Tower of God is a compelling anime series that's been one of the world's most popular manhwa for the better part of the past two decades. The story follows Bam, a young boy with a mysterious past that even he knows little about. When he follows his only friend Rachel to the even more mysterious Tower, he goes on the adventure of a lifetime. He finds new friends, tons of enemies, and an inner dedication that keeps him going no matter the circumstances.

To be a great series comparable to Tower of God, there are a lot of different qualities a show can have. Tower of God is set in the titular Tower, and any series with a vast, explorable world is already a great fit. Tower of God is also no stranger to action. It has plenty of great fights and even better set pieces, making a show with similar qualities a worthy comparison.

The anime adaptation of Solo Leveling took the world by storm. It's a great Korean manhwa featuring Sung Jinwoo, the only character in his world with the ability to actually get stronger. While everyone else in the world is assigned a rank that can never change, Jinwoo has The System supporting him, allowing him to gradually get stronger and stronger until he's easily one of the most overpowered shōnen protagonists around. He's exploring his world with his newfound power and he can't wait for the next chance to level up.

Solo Leveling and Tower of God are both compelling manhwa series with huge followings. As anime, each series brings great fights to their viewers and feature intricate worlds filled with wonder. Bam eventually becomes an incredibly powerful character within his series, and like Sung Jinwoo, he certainly didn't start there. Both series feature two weak characters that never give up on themselves, and, over time, gain the strength they need to protect their friends and defeat their enemies easily.

Attack on Titan is another heart-pounding action series set within the confines of a predetermined location. While you can't climb the Walls and go to a new floor like you can in the Tower, the characters in Attack on Titan are essentially trapped within the walls, as it's their only way to escape from the looming Titan threat outside. Eren lives a bleak life early in the series, as he's the victim of one of the most tragic events of mass destruction in anime.
Like Bam, Eren starts the series as a naive and altogether weak kid before becoming a menacing teen and a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Also, like Bam, Eren will go to any length to save his friends, even becoming evil incarnate itself if it means stopping the world from coming to the island of Paradis. Both shows feature surprisingly dark themes, plenty of great action sequences, and two of the biggest betrayals in all anime.

In just a short 13-episode run, Hell's Paradise captured the world's curiosity with ease. The show has a great premise that's gripping right from the start. Gabimaru is an inmate on death row who just won't die, and it's technically not even his fault. Every time his executioners try to kill him, they can't. Instead of trying to kill him over and over again, his captors eventually send him on a suicide mission to the island of Shinsenkyo to try and find the elixir of immortality.

Like Tower of God, the world of Hell's Paradise couldn't be more intriguing. It's an open world the main characters have barely scratched the surface of, and the more they discover, the more questions they end up having. Like the Tower, Shinsenkyo is filled with mysterious creatures, an interesting power system, and a few key allies looking to keep the main character alive.

The Promised Neverland is a shonen anime that is unlike almost anything that came before or since. It's set in a brutal, dystopian world where children are raised to be meals for their Demon overlords. While the outside world knows about the existence of these human farms, they don't care, as the farms are the only things keeping the Demons from waging war on humanity once again. The world of The Promised Neverland starts in a small orphanage that grows into a huge, convoluted scheme built to keep the kids in check.

Both Tower of God and The Promised Neverland feature smart main characters looking to understand the world around them. Funnily enough, they also feature two of the most disappointing second seasons in anime, with each show featuring a huge drop-off in quality across the board. They're both still two solid series, and maybe future seasons will pick up where their dominant first seasons left off.

As one of the best sports anime, it might be hard to see the comparisons between Blue Lock and Tower of God, but they're actually easier to see than most people might think. Blue Lock takes hundreds of Japan's best youth strikers and pits them against each other in an attempt to find the best striker in Japan, an aggressive and egotistical player who can finally bring the World Cup back to their nation. Yoichi Isagi starts the series as a timid, fearful character who's worried about everyone around him before he focuses on himself and his own goals, much like Bam.
While both main characters share a lot in common, the worlds of Blue Lock and Tower of God are eerily similar. They both feature characters locked in a building, trying to find the best ways to advance. They also feature plenty of side characters with the exact same objectives as the main character, and because they want the same thing, they often have to fight each other for the few positions that are able for the taking.

Black Clover is one of the most popular shōnen series of the past decade. Like Tower of God, Black Clover features a main character who doesn't know the meaning of the word 'quit'. Asta from Black Clover is as determined as anyone, and so loyal to his friends, that they know he'll have their backs without having to check. The world of Black Clover isn't as winding or mysterious as the world of Tower of God, but the characters within each series have plenty in common with each other.

The God of High School is another great manhwa anime adaptation filled with interesting characters. It stars Jin Mori as he takes on the titular God of High School tournament, a fighting tournament dedicated to finding the best fighters around the world. Jin finds two excellent friends by fighting in the tournament and the trio grow closer as they advance through the competition. Like Tower of God, The God of High School combines real-world elements with over-the-top action to create a cohesive narrative filled with excitement.

The God of High School doesn't have a world as expansive as Tower of God, but that's not their biggest comparison. The biggest things they have in common are their trio of lovable characters, a main character who gets increasingly stronger as he comes against better and better opponents, and a mysterious group governing the events of the series behind the scenes.
2 Made in Abyss
Animated By Kinema Citrus, Based on the Manga By Akihito Tsukushi

Made in Abyss
Made in Abyss is an adventure anime series that began in 2017. Based on the Japanese manga series of the same name, Made in Abyss tells the story of a young girl and her robot searching through a mysterious chasm for her mother. Luci Christian voices Reg alongside Brittany Lauda as Riko.
Made in Abyss is the exact opposite of Tower of God. Instead of trying to climb a tower, the characters in Made in the Abyss descend a vast abyss. Well, they're not exactly the opposite of each other, as it might be better to describe the two shows as two sides of the same coin. Each level of the Tower demands more from its participants if they want to continue climbing, similar to the different levels of the Abyss in Made in Abyss.
